Theatre On Skates Academy is proud to present 
Broadway On Blades, a musical theatre-inspired skating showcase celebrating the magic of Broadway through the artistry of figure skating. Theatre On Skates Academy is a registered Learn to Skate USA affiliate through U.S. Figure Skating. This event has been issued Performance Approval Certificate #77432 for the December 18-20, 2026, event dates.
This special event brings together skaters of all ages and skill levels to perform routines inspired by beloved musicals — from classics like The Wizard of Oz and Annie to modern favorites like Frozen and Wicked.
Held on a state-of-the-art synthetic ice surface, Broadway On Blades offers a unique showcase experience for skaters to demonstrate their talent through themed performances, costumes, and choreography inspired by the stage.
This event serves as both a non-competitive talent showcase and a fundraiser, designed to foster and encourage growth and development in the performing arts giving it an enhanced feeling of harmony and balance to figure skating and stage performances with proceeds supporting Theatre On Skates Academy's operating costs, scholarship programs, and future community events.
All participants are recognized for participation only and are not formally judged, to encourage a positive, low-pressure introduction to performance skating. All skill levels are welcomed, from beginner Basic Skills skaters to advanced skaters. (NO LIMITS)
Each participant will perform in the opening and closing group number. This will be a choreographed vocal musical number. Choreography and lyrics will be sent to everyone after all registered performers have been accounted for.
Below you will find the guidelines to make this showcase a success. Please read these guidelines carefully as this will help make this showcase run smoothly. GENERAL INFORMATION
This year's 2026 Broadway On Blades Talent Showcase will be held at Theatre On Skates Academy, 1001 Lighthouse Place in Michigan City, Indiana 46360. It will take place between Friday, December 18 through Sunday December 20, 2026. This multi-day format includes rehearsal/practice ice sessions and fittings, culminating in a single final showcase performance on either Saturday or Sunday of that weekend. The exact showcase day and detailed daily schedule will be sent directly to confirmed registrants following the close of registration. Please note the skating portion of the showcase will be conducted on artificial synthetic ice.
(The ice stage is approximately 32’x 32’ and up to 36’ x 32’) almost similar to skating between the 4 red dots in center ice of an NHL 200' x 85' rink. That ice stage is elevated on a 6” platform. The temperature in the facility is not the same as a typical ice rink (it is not cold). Prepare as if it’s a dance studio or gym.
Eligibility Rules:
As this is a non-competitive event, this year's 2026 Broadway On Blades Showcase will be open to single skaters, duets and mini small ensembles of three to eight.
· Each performer may register in up to three categories: Solo, Duet, and Ensemble.
a. Performers may be selected to perform up to two routines per category — one in the First Half and one in the Second Half of the show (for example, two solo routines, one per act). This structure allows the Academy to balance pacing and variety across both halves of the showcase.
b. Routine placement (First Half vs. Second Half) and total number of routines per performer will be finalized by the Showcase Director based on total registration numbers and program length. All performers will be notified of their confirmed routine count and placement once the schedule is finalized.
c. "Routine allowances (up to 2 per category) are based on anticipated registration volume and available show time. Theatre On Skates Academy reserves the right to adjust the number of routines per performer, per category, based on total registrations received by the entry deadline. All performers will be treated equally under any adjusted format — for example, if adjustments are necessary, all performers would be limited to one routine per category rather than a select few losing a routine while others keep two."
- All participants entering the showcase must be registered members of U.S. Figure Skating either as a Learn to Skate USA member and/or a full official member. Members of other organizations are eligible to participate but must register with U.S. Figure Skating or include an additional $25 for a Learn to Skate USA membership. A valid membership card will be required at registration.
- Any U.S. Figure Skating member novice level and above who have competed in any U.S. Championships must be approved individually through U.S. Figure Skating.
- Adaptive Skating Memorandum (A.S.M.): Skaters using a A.S.M. must submit their A.S.M. to the showcase director via email at admin@theatreonskates.com. Click here for more information about A.S.M.
Entry Fees:
- Entry fee is $35 per participant per event (singles/duets/small ensemble) made payable to Theatre On Skates Academy.
- All entries must be submitted online no later than October 15, 2026, 11:59 pm (CMT)
- Entry fees are non-refundable after the closing date
- Late entries may be accepted (space permitting). (A $15 late fee will be assessed) Musical change requests after entries close will require an additional fee of $25.
- Registration shall be completed by clicking on the following link: Broadway On Blades and must be submitted by the stated deadline to be considered valid.
- Entry Refunds: Full refunds are available if withdrawal is made prior to close of entries. After the close of entries, refunds are only available if the event is canceled or medical certified injury.
- Payment of all fees must be made prior to the start of the event; skaters will not be allowed to participate in any practice sessions or events until payment is rectified.
- Due to ice surface and staging limits, registration is capped at 32 cast members — register early to guarantee your spot.
Practice Ice:
- All participants will be given (2-free) practice and rehearsal times in order to adapt to skating on artificial ice.
- Additional Practice Ice will be available for purchase in 30-minute segments @ $25 per segment. (if needed.)
Participants will receive an email with notice of the practice ice availability along with their participation confirmation
Music & Choreography:
Opening and Closing Ceremonies
· There will be an opening and closing ceremony number that will be choreographed by Theatre On Skates Academy. Each performer will receive instructions after their entry confirmation. Performers will need to learn the lyrics and choreography to the best of their ability prior to the first day of rehearsals.
MUSIC SUBMISSION/UPLOAD:
1. Single and duet music selections must not exceed 2:10 minutes in duration and of a Broadway musical theme, movie musical, or musical theatre-adjacent production.
2. Mini Production Ensemble music selections must not exceed 3:10 minutes in duration and of a Broadway musical theme, movie musical, or musical theatre-adjacent production
3. Performers are responsible for submitting music tracks by November 15, 2026.
4. The music for all programs must be uploaded at: www.theatreonskates.com (CD’s will not be accepted/used at this event.)
5. Performers must also have an available backup copy of their music upon arrival, and it must be immediately available stage side whenever the skater performs.
Staging & Props:
Props are highly recommended and encouraged! If you will be using props for your number, please email your prop designs by November 15, 2026.
Although spotlights may not be available at the time of the show, please prepare for at least 2 spotlights, House lights will be used.
There will be decorations and lights around the border of the stage only.
